Birthday Book Club
You can celebrate your child's birthday by donating a book to the library! For $20.00 you can pick a book and we will put a special bookplate in it to honor your child. You can also donate a book to the library in honor of your child's teacher. It makes a special holiday or end-of-the-year present.

Book Fair
We have two book fairs a year. One in the fall and one in the spring. Thanks to all the volunteers who help us.

Book Swap
We have two book swaps during the school year. The rules are simple. The books to swap must be: in good condition, on your grade level and approved by your parents.

Cougar News Network
Central Academy of the Arts has a live morning news program and it is run entirely by students. Fourth and fifth graders are eligible to apply for the positions of sound person, camera person, and anchors.

DISCUS is South Carolina's Virtual Library. Use this link to use DISCUS at school:

Ask Mrs. Shirley for the password if you want to use it at home (you will need internet access). If you don't have a computer at home, you can use DISCUS at the public library.

Parent volunteers
The library at Central Academy of the Arts depends heavily on parent volunteers. From processing magazines, working at the book fairs, or creating bulletin boards, we have a job for you. If you enjoy children and books, please contact us. We have a job for you!!

South Carolina Children's Book Award

Each year, students enjoy twenty books chosen by the Children's Book Award Committee.

Storybook CharacterDay

Every year we have a Book Character Dress-Up day. It's great fun and we encourage everyone to participate!
